Our 55,000-square-foot facility, on a three-acre site, includes our sheet metal and pipe fabrication facilities, service department, corporate offices, and one of Southern California’s most complete plumbing retail stores.

Steven B. Andrade

Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board

Steve has been with A.O. Reed for more than 42 years. He began his career as an Apprentice Plumber in 1972 and subsequent roles included Apprentice, Journeyman, Estimator, Project Manager and Project Engineer. For eight years, he was Executive Vice President in charge of all field operations and in 1991 he assumed the company presidency from his father, Ed. Beginning January 2015, Steve promoted Dave Clarkin to the presidency. Steve remains A.O. Reed’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board.

Steve has extensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and piping systems. His educational background includes San Diego Mesa College and University of California, San Diego.

David Clarkin


David has 24 years of mechanical experience and has been with A.O. Reed since 2003.  He started his career after receiving a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University. David spent 10 years as Vice President and was then promoted to Executive Vice President two years ago. His responsibilities included oversight of pre-construction and construction operations. With more than 20 years of design and construction experience with mechanical systems, he has had a key role in numerous high profile technical projects, including Camp Pendleton Hospital, Scripps Cardiovascular Hospital, Sharp Hospital, Salk Institute, Disney Cars Land and Pacific Beacon High Rise.

On January 1, 2015, David was promoted to President.

David’s experience, understanding of the design process, construction, LEED certification, Lean Construction, and versatility has contributed to the continued success and growth of A.O. Reed. He received his BS in mechanical engineering from San Diego State University and holds California State Contractors License A, B, C4, C20, C36, C43, C60 and HAZ. David is also an active member of ASHRAE and ISPE.

Craig Koehler

Chief Financial Officer

Craig joined the company in 2012. He is responsible for accounting, financial planning and reporting, treasury functions, asset control, risk management, and human resources. Craig was previously the Chief Financial Officer for a large general contractor for 16 years. He has over 29 years of total experience in the fields of finance and accounting, and the development of information systems in the construction and manufacturing industries.

Craig earned his degree in business administration from San Diego State University, graduating magna cum laude. He subsequently earned his MBA in finance from SDSU.

Craig is active in the community, and serves as chairman of the Salvation Army Finance Committee. He is a member of the CFO Roundtable organization, and has served as president of the San Diego chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association.

Jaimi Lomas

Vice President, Service Division

Jaimi joined the company in 1997, bringing several years of successful mechanical service sales experience with her. She was initially responsible for growing the service maintenance base and by 1998 was promoted to Service Sales Manager. Over the next decade, A.O. Reed became the largest commercial service company in San Diego. In 2008, Jaimi became General Manager of Service and was also awarded HVAC Woman of the Year by HVAC News. In 2013, she took on her current role.

Jaimi serves on the board of several industry associations: Mechanical Contractors of America, Mechanical Service Contractors of San Diego, and the Piping Industry Progress and Education Trust Fund.

Phil Trinh, P.E, DBIA

Vice President, Design Manager

Phil has over 27 years of experience in mechanical engineering and construction, ranging from owner’s representation and managing design professionals to hands-on construction. As Design Manager, he utilizes his construction and design experience to ensure the proper balance between scope, budget and quality. Phil’s experience ranges from healthcare to research and laboratories, and he has extensive experience working with OSHPD from the permitting process through construction. As a result of this experience, he is able to assist in the timely submission of the documents as well as obtaining OSHPD plan check approval. Phil also leads the BIM team to ensure interdisciplinary system coordination during construction.

Examples of Phil’s expertise in healthcare include Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Palomar Medical Center West, Pomerado Hospital, UC Irvine Medical Center, Arrowhead Medical Center, and Tri-City Medical Center. His experience in research and laboratories includes UC Riverside Genomics, Entomology, Material Sciences, Physical Sciences I, IDEC Pharmaceuticals, Elan Pharmaceuticals, AMGEN, Pfizer, and the Salk Institute, to name a few.

Phil received his BSME from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He is a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer in California and is a Certified DBIA Professional.

John Norling

Vice President, Operations

John Norling, A.O. Reed’s V.P. of Operations joined the company in 1989. He is responsible for oversight on commercial construction managers and company operations. John has over 40 years of plumbing and construction experience.

John is a local San Diegan born in Coronado, now residing in Point Loma. John’s educational experience includes 4 years of Union apprenticeship training in the Plumbing & piping industry, 4 years drafting and 1 year Architectural drafting, and 28 years running plumbing projects in the Southern California area.
