In 2009, we retrofitted our corporate offices with high efficiency HVAC systems, automated controls, LED lighting and controls, window glazing, low flow plumbing fixtures, a new cool roof, and a complete solar system. We now produce 56 percent of our energy in-house.
A.O. Reed has been involved in Green Construction since the early days of the sustainability movement. Our people are LEED trained and accredited and are passionate about designing and installing highly efficient and sustainable HVAC and plumbing systems.
We actively assist in developing and implementing strategies to meet our customer’s sustainability goals.
Our participation in sustainability has been well documented with LEED Certifications for Building Design and Construction and Building Operations and Maintenance.
Our commitment to Green Construction is evident by our “Energy Star” award presented by SDG&E for the solar PV and HVAC upgrade of our corporate headquarters.
A.O. Reed & Co. has earned the highest honors from the Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA). The MSCA STAR program is administered by the National ITC Corporation of Los Angeles, CA (NITC), an internationally recognized third-party personnel certification agency. NITC reviews contractor applications and awards MSCA STAR to those that stand up to a rigorous review of their credentials. NITC also administers the UA STAR exam.

Recognized by the HVAC industry’s top green building resource, the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), MSCA GreenSTAR was developed to advocate MSCA STAR leadership in sustainable mechanical service.
A.O. Reed is proud to have completed a number of LEED-certified projects over the years. These projects include the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine (LEED Gold), Smart Corner (LEED Silver), San Diego County Medical Examiners & Forensics Lab (LEED Silver), and (LEED Platinum).
