High-Rise Buildings and Hotels
Lane Field North is the newest addition to the Marriott family of hotels. This 400 room, 18 story hotel is located across from the San Diego bay at 900 Bayfront court.
As a design build partner on the project, A.O. Reed provided innovative strategies for the plumbing system which fit both the design criteria and budget for the hotel. Successfully blending these aspects played a major role in the success of the project.
The plumbing system is based around a multi zone concept with domestic hot water boilers, storage tanks, and anti-scaling water filtration located on the roof to make the best use of limited space. The hotel has 247 overnight and 147 extended stay guestrooms with kitchenette. There is also a full service kitchen, 2 laundry rooms, 1 house and 1 guest, 8 public & employee restrooms, a pool shower, below grade ejector pumps, and a storm drain filter.
Sempra Energy

Pacific Beacon is a top housing project in San Diego and a part of the Homeport Ashore program to improve quality of life for single Sailors. This is the first large-scale construction project authorized by Congress where the Department of the Navy joined a partnership with a civilian developer to build housing for unaccompanied Sailors.
Pacific Beacon consists of four, 18 story buildings, a four-story parking structure, outdoor recreation and social areas. There are 500 housing units each featuring two walk-in closets, a private study area, kitchen area and washer/dryer. This project also has a 6,000 square-foot fitness center, and a ninth floor swimming pool and spa.
A.O. Reed was responsible for the design and construction of the plumbing and HVAC systems. We teamed with McParlane & Associates on the pre-construction and design efforts. AOR installed 992 vertical and horizontal water source heat pumps to serve this 1.2 million square-foot complex. The project was delivered six months ahead of schedule to the owner.
