A.O. Reed Celebrates 110-year Anniversary with CBS 8
This year marks the 110th anniversary of A.O. Reed & Co. In 1914, brothers Albert O. and Harry Reed opened a small plumbing business. In the late 1950s, A.O. Reed joined the air conditioning industry. The two trades merged to form a mechanical contracting company specializing in HVAC and plumbing. As the years progressed, so did the size of the company. Within our 110 years of business, we have grown from a small plumbing business to having 3 offices based in Southern California, employing over 1,000 individuals. Since then, the company has aimed to be the best mechanical contracting company in Southern California.
A.O. Reed was lucky enough to be featured on the Zevely Zone by CBS 8 to discuss our company’s history. CBS 8 came to the San Diego headquarters to interview our CEO and shop general foremen. Everyone shared their stories and discussed how A.O. Reed shaped their lives. For most, A.O. Reed isn’t just a place to come to work but an extended family. Some individuals even have multiple generations of family members working at the company. According to Dan Jordison, "This company has put food on my table ever since I was growing up. We are working with family." Dan’s father was the Sheet Metal Shop General Foreman, and now Dan has worked his way up and held that same position for over a decade.
Steve Andrade shared his story from sweeping at the shop, becoming a plumber, and progressing to the CEO position. A.O. Reed is filled with longevity, history, and opportunity, and we are very thankful to have showcased this on the Zevely Zone.
From the beginning, A.O. Reed passed our knowledge from one generation to the next. Our leadership and skilled craftsmen share their dedication and deep commitment to the long-term future of A.O. Reed.
