At A.O. Reed, safety isn’t just a priority — it’s a core part of who we are. Our comprehensive safety program is built on proactive planning, ongoing education, and a commitment to accident prevention. A dedicated safety panel continuously reviews and updates our practices to ensure they remain effective and aligned with the latest industry standards. Our superintendents, many of whom have served on safety committees for decades, bring their expertise directly to the field — sharing and implementing the latest safety techniques with our teams. As a company, we take pride not only in building some of Southern California’s most iconic projects — but in doing so with a safety-first mindset that protects our people and supports our mission of excellence.
Top Priority
At A.O. Reed, safety is our top priority and a fundamental part of our company culture. We are committed to creating a work environment where every employee feels protected and empowered to work safely. This commitment starts with leadership and extends to every team member. A.O. Reed maintains an open-door policy, giving employees the freedom to voice safety concerns with team members at any level of the organization.
A Trained Team
At A.O. Reed, we take pride in our commitment to safety and training. All foremen are OSHA 30 certified, and we consistently provide OSHA 30 and other jobsite training programs to maintain a strong safety culture across all teams.
Our shared goal is to build the best projects in Southern California — safely and efficiently. Many of our superintendents have served on safety committees for decades, bringing valuable experience and the latest safety practices back to the field. Through their leadership, we continually improve and implement safety strategies that protect our people and projects.
Proactive Approach
Proactively, we monitor all employees to ensure they produce safe and high-quality work. If injuries occur, we report every bump, scrap, bruise, and scratch to see how we can improve. If there are challenges on the jobsite, we face this head-on and provide solutions.
Weekly toolbox meetings are required on all projects to ensure additional training is scheduled, and pertinent topics are discussed with employees. If safety concerns arise, alerts are sent out and shared with supervisors and foremen on the jobsite.
Company Resources
To support this commitment, we invest heavily in comprehensive safety programs and ongoing education. Our approach focuses on proactive planning, hands-on training, and continuous improvement to prevent accidents before they happen. We have a dedicated Safety Panel that regularly reviews and updates our safety procedures to ensure they remain current, effective, and aligned with industry best practices. By prioritizing education and awareness, we give our workers the tools and knowledge they need to make safety a part of their everyday work.
Award-Winning Program
At A.O. Reed, our top priority is ensuring every employee returns home safely to their families each day. We provide ongoing training and certification programs to equip our teams with the knowledge and resources needed to maintain a safe working environment on every jobsite.
In recognition of our commitment to safety, A.O. Reed was honored this year with the CalSMACNA Safety Award, the SMACNA Safety Excellence Award, Golden Gate Partnership Recognition, and the CPMCA Safety Star Award — a significant achievement, especially given the 1.1 million manhours our team completed in 2024.
These awards reflect the strength of our safety procedures and protocols — but more importantly, they highlight our commitment to valuing every employee and every person on site. On our projects, we continue to build a culture of safety through teamwork, dedication, and education.
“If there's a task that doesn’t seem safe or something doesn’t feel right, we’re encouraged to speak up and voice our concerns. Our team takes the time to talk about the issue. A coworker might spot a hazard or suggest a safer, more efficient way to do the job. Fresh ideas and new perspectives are always welcome.”
