USD Copley Library Renovation

The new Copley Library consists of 25 group study spaces, 3 seminar rooms, a reading journal room, and 2 classrooms. This renovation project expands the opportunity for students to study in newly constructed spaces with the resources to succeed. A.O. Reed worked with the architect and general contractor to meet the client’s standards and expectations.

The original construction took place in 1985, and the need for renovated spaces was inescapable. Before construction, there were only 2 study rooms, and now there are 25. The university invested in numerous group study spaces throughout the building that could hold over 1,000 individuals.

On the plumbing scope of the project, A.O. Reed installed condensate piping, water heaters, recirculation pumps, expansion tanks, water closets, lavatories, janitor sinks, drinking fountains, sinks, and connected the utilities to the humidifiers. We provided condensate pumps, SWV piping, DCW piping, and seismic restraints. The project had two large gang restrooms with 22 plumbing fixtures.

The construction process went smoothly and was completed on April 30th, 2020. Shortly after, A.O. Reed was invited back on campus to construct the USD Learning Commons and USD Knauss Business School. To hand over a great project is a success to the company, but repeated business is the best compliment.
