Our company has implemented “lean” technology in our plumbing, pipe fitting, and sheet metal shops. A.O. Reed’s application of lean construction has resulted in significant improvements in efficiency, cycle time, and productivity. This leads to lower costs and improved project delivery times.
On the HVAC side, we provide sophisticated cost analysis and implement the latest HVAC technologies on each project. A.O. Reed also offers HVAC maintenance plans to ensure each project’s system continues to run efficiently. We are exceptionally proud of our participation in LEED Silver, Gold, and Platinum projects.
As for plumbing, A.O. Reed employs our vast experience and newest technologies to produce commercial plumbing systems ranging from conventional plumbing to medical gas and high-purity laboratory systems.
We are highly experienced in design-build, design-assist, and plan-spec project delivery methods. A.O. Reed’s staff members are team players who are truly dedicated to the overall success of our projects.
A.O. Reed is the only San Diego company that fabricates our own ductwork. This allows us to be flexible with last-minute changes, fabrication requirements, and on-time deliveries. Our team uses BIM extensively when we model and prefabricate our projects. Prefabrication increases quality as well as safety since we will have less manpower on the project site for installation.

Plumbing & Pipe Fabrication
A.O. Reed & Co. has been providing plumbing & pipe fabrication since 1985. Our automated BIM allows us to get detailed material take offs from the model. Our fabrication includes mechanical pipe and plumbing systems. We fabricate main pipe racks, equipment fit-ups, and plumbing fixture fit-ups. This reduces the number of crew members on the jobsite and enables a controlled environment for quality. A.O. Reed relies on our own delivery trucks to ensure on-time deliveries.
Duct Fabrication
A.O. Reed & Co. has been providing duct fabrication since 1970. Our automated BIM to fabrication process has an output capacity over 3 million pounds of ductwork per year. We have the ability to fabricate galvanized round, rectangular, and stainless steel. A.O. Reed also wants to provide on-time deliveries of ductwork to keep a safe and clean jobsite. We have 2 forty-foot trucks and a twenty-foot additional trailer to support the delivery requirements.
BIM
BIM is an integral process of Lean Construction. We utilize BIM throughout the entire design phase to facilitate real-time design integration to improve communication, minimize RFI’s, and deliver on-time, on-budget projects. BIM is excellent for enabling our design team to save time and cost by producing visual descriptions of the design intent. This accelerates real-time design collaboration and interaction with the design team and other trades.
