Three Generations of Cosgrove’s at A.O. Reed

The Cosgrove family has a rich history involving three generations at A.O. Reed. The Cosgrove legacy at the company started with Tom Cosgrove Sr. When moving to San Diego from New Jersey, he worked for various mechanical contracting companies before joining A.O. Reed. When he joined the company, Tom knew he wanted to work here until retirement. Early on, he knew the company culture was unparalleled to that of other mechanical contractors.

Tom Cosgrove Sr. started at the company in the mid-1960s. He worked as a pipe fitter doing start-up. He appreciated the honest work in the trade and the positive company culture. A.O. Reed was unique in fostering a culture that was based on collaboration. Implementing an open-door policy gives anyone a platform to voice any concerns, suggestions, or comments. This allows our company to rework processes and systems to implement the highest standards in safety, efficiency, and quality. Everyone has unique ideas as they are experts in the craft, and this culture allows everyone to flourish and be the best version of themselves - professionally and personally.

Tom’s positive experience at A.O. Reed unknowingly translated to his sons - Chris, Mark, and Tom Jr. His sons started working at A.O. Reed from apprenticeship. The second generation of Cosgrove’s average working 41 years at the company; a testament to their support and loyalty. The tradition continues for the third generation, with Jeff Cosgrove. A.O. Reed has intertwined into the Cosgrove’s family history and is proud of their generational involvement. A.O. Reed provides a successful career for those who work hard and do the right thing. This simple yet meaningful mantra has allowed the company to sustain itself for over 110 years.
