Lean Construction
A.O. Reed applies lean construction principles across our plumbing, process piping, pipe fitting, and sheet metal fabrication operations to improve efficiency, safety, and productivity while reducing waste, cost, and schedule impacts.
Using advanced HVAC cost analysis and modern technologies, we optimize system performance and deliver durable, long-term solutions for commercial plumbing, medical gas, and high-purity laboratory systems, including support for LEED-certified projects.
BIM
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a core component of our Lean Construction approach, supporting informed decision-making and efficient project delivery. We use BIM during pre-construction and design to enhance coordination, identify clashes early, reduce RFIs, and improve constructability. Through 3D modeling and real-time collaboration, BIM helps optimize scheduling, control costs, and streamline coordination with consultants and trade partners.
In-House Sheet Metal Fabrication
The A.O. Reed Los Angeles Sheet Metal Shop is a 30,000-square-foot facility that fabricates all project ductwork and related components. Using CAD and Revit, our detailing team coordinates with other trades and resolves design issues to optimize shop fabrication and field installation.
With in-house production, advanced equipment, and a skilled workforce, the shop delivers high-quality ductwork while minimizing waste and supporting efficient installation throughout Southern California.

During construction, we follow a structured submittal and inspection process, delivering prefabricated materials just in time and conducting quality control walks to verify performance and installation accuracy.
